Hi Ken how are you and your good lady keeping, nice to hear from you again, hope you enjoy the retreat again this year, I dont think I will make it across, this time, however I'm hoping to get to Wolfgangs retreat in Germany. Are you still doing your mad kayaking over the falls, they were very spectacular. Let us know when your coming across, you can maybe make the Howay the lads jam at Blaydon (we;ve got plenty of spare banjos Anyway nice to hear from you. keep on strumming Colin Hi Colin, Life is good and I am still getting out on the River (but I still don't do the main falls). My lovely wife made it very clear to me that we won't have the time while in England for me to get out and jam. But of course if we show up in a pub while a jam is already taking place there will not be much I can do about that It looks like this time around we will be in London and then down to Poole and points nearby. I hope that all is well with you. Ken

Hi all, newly registered so no lurking as yet but thought I'd jump into this thread straight away. Got onto this forum from following tangier sound which I have to say has been an absolute revelation for me with the frailing workshops. I'm 36 and played guitar off and on for about years without really managing to bust through a plateaux I seemed to reach sometime around forever ago.. ;D I always did fancy a bash at banjo and after a mate kindly loaned one to me from his loft late last year, I now absolutely love the instrument. Can't put the thing down which is just so refreshing! Enjoying my attempts to explore a bluesy sound as well as old time stuff. Anyone know this tune? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq-J97M5dl0Wes

Welcome aboard Wes, you're story is so similar to so many others here (including my own) that it's freaky.
Nice tune you linked to
Feel free to dig in and have a rummage around the place, we don't bite (often)
Danny

Hi Wes - welcome aboard. I know exactly what you mean about the plateau! The tune is Snowdrop - I had a quick google around for tab to no avail but did find this nice performance on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9fOIxKHUk8It's done here in open C but I don't think it's too hard to work out something similar in open G Cheers, Pete.

Hey Jeff, Welcome aboard. Come up to Newcastle for the Blaydon Black Bull Jam. Colin comes up from Stanley and is offering a ride. Spare banjo's will be there as well as a welcoming atmosphere! Check out the Howay the Lads Jam posts in the jams, meetings section.

Hi Guys, My name is Bernie, I bought my 1st banjo about 45 years ago & gave it up as a bad job. Over the years I picked up a few bits here & there but still extremely bad. As many others have done I found Patricks web pages & took off from there. Frailing was "chinese "to me until I found the daily frail, I can now make recognised sound !!!. I have uploaded a vidio on "youtube" under blueknight2481 if anyone is interested. Bernie.............. P.S. Gotta luv that duck !!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjSM7_9hvP4
