Hey Guys, thanks for the warm welcome. Its amazing how generous the pats are they give alot of time but im sure they know how much joy it gives to people. Absulutly not giving up on the 'cello and stuff recently joined the school orchestra and im able to pick some of my 'cello peices on the tenor banjo (same tuning). Best wishes and thanks again Tim

Cool - tenor guitar will sound good with banjo makes a bit of a change from 2 banjos or gutar and banjo. I wonder if you could make one out of a normal guitar? Maybye audio at some point - i will build up some courage. Tim

You couldn't make one out of an ordinary guitar really, the scale length is completely different. (I studied guitar making for a while) 10/10 for ingenuity tho. Dear Old Dad has a series of Tenor Guitar/Banjo lessons on youtube. I think...... I'm not sure 'cos I've got the dvd. Their MIGHT be some old audio ones on www.archive.org too

If the banjo has coordinating rods it'd be fairly easy to adjust. Failing that try a lower bridge, you can get 'em for just pennies on ebay last time I checked. www.frets.com/FRETSPages/OwnerManual/manbanjo.html should provide some help. It's a very useful website is www.frets.comAlternatively the truss rod might need adjusting, again frets.com should tell you all you need to know. Feel free to ask me questions, send me a pm or whatever.

Thanks - I'll have a look. Rods' screw is right up by the fingerboard so i cant go any further (unless its the other way) and i cant really replace the bridge cos the banjo's not mine (come on man its not like ur ever going to play it!). The Buzzing onfo is great becouse a guitar of mine is buzzing and i think i can get rid of it. Thanks again Tim

Hi Sir Tim Surely the owner of your Banjo can't complain about repairs or improvements? Have you checked out the links to related sites such as Strikes a Chord? -- Andy at Northern Banjo Boy tries to kid us he's a beginner! -- Mark At Great North Strum is obviously bonkers, but a good lad really. All worth a visit, and you'll learn from them, and the links they provide. Not getting heavy mate but please pass all that you get and send past your parents,or someone you trust! Heavy bit over and done with -- Sorry. Enjoy what you play and keep at it (no matter how bad you think it is) Keep on plunking Pete

Hi Sorry about the slow reply been madly busy. I have set up a jamming session at my school (easy song suggestions much apreciated) and have just a minute ago booked a banjo lessons - i would never have geussed how many banjo players there are around here. I'm also experimenting with such things, i'm trying to electrify my diddley bow and dennis havlennas' doodle bass with a peizo transducer. Best wishes Tim

Hi Tim You appear to be going great guns, and enjoying every moment! Song suggestions? - You can't go wrong with drunken sailor, everyone can make up a new verse for that at each jam session, hopefully not too bawdy. Suit yourselves about that though ! You beat me to the post with the diddley and doodle (Rotter ) Dennis has a great site for folks like us who like to try the different approach to this music thingy ( That is after all what true folk music is - maybe ? ) Let us know how the electricary goes cos I want to try it. How about some pics or audio ? Good luck mate Pete

Hi Tim. You cant buy empty gas tanks, there is normally a deposit charged. However they seem to get dumped everywhere, but make certain they are completely empty even if it is an inert gas any pressure can be dangerous! Try asking at your local recycling depot. Good luck Pete
