Hi, I'm a newbie around here, born and bred on Merseyside, England, singer, songwriter and occasional author, with a lifelong passion for traditional music and song of all varieties from all over the globe. Some time ago, driven mad by the miniscule amount of traditional music being broadcast, I started an Internet radio station. it's called Worlds of Trad and it's hosted by an American company called Live365 and it's available 24/7/365. The station is non-profit making (for me at any rate) and listening is free. The full playlist can be seen at profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=160651486 . And at www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=108617&messages=1 To listen to the programme, go to www.live365.com/stations/oneworldmusic , and click on the yellow speaker button. If you haven’t listened before you’ll need to follow the onscreen instructions to download the station player. Then wait a moment for the adverts to clear, press the green play button and the station will be on the air. The music’s great, listening is free and I'm glad to receive requests. Happy listening, Fred McCormick Fredlive365@aol.com.

Hi Folks, Just to let people know that I've uploaded a new edition of Worlds of Trad Internet radio, which will be on-line until Wednesday April 9th, and which features three hours of the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country and early jazz; in fact traditional music from absolutely everywhere. This month we've an extensive celebration of the centenary of folklorist A.L. (Bert) Lloyd, particularly remembering those splendid Lps which he was responsible for bringing out on the Topic label. Fielding for the Topic revivalists are Bob Davenport, The Celebrated Working Man's Band, Roy Harris, Frankie Armstrong, Louis Killen and Ewan MacColl, whilst Joe Heaney, Paddy Tunney, Jeannie Robertson, Fred Jordan, Willie Scott, Lizzie Higgins, Hedy West, Willie Clancy and Michael Gorman are batting for the tradition. Out on the stumps, there's several tracks from Topic's International series and we've a few songs from Bert himself. There's also an excerpt from The Folk Music Virtuoso, and a song and a dance from the legendary Eels Foot broadcast. Elsewhere in the programme we remember that 2008 is the centenary of those wonderful Joseph Taylor phonograph records; Mercy Dee Walton and Lil McKlintock complain they can't keep up the payments; the Hokum Boys complain about the neighbours; there's several arguments about lazy people from Carter and Young, Cephas and Wiggins, Seán 'ac Donncha, The Mississippi Sheiks and Con Cassidy. And Andy Cohen complains he's got no money. Also, Vera Hall Ward, Carl Story, Arthur Howard, The Bacup Nutters and the Monty Sunshine Quartet remind us it's Easter, and Louis Armstrong and Chris Droney each play a tune for St Patrick's Day. Listening, emailing and Myspace details are as above, and the playlist can also www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=109420&messages=1Happy listening, Fred McCormick.

Just to let folks know that the April 2008 edition of Worlds of Trad Internet radio is now uploaded, will be on-line until Wednesday May 14th, and features three hours of the very best in traditional folk, ethnic, world, roots, blues, old time country and early jazz; in fact traditional music from absolutely everywhere. In this month’s bargain basement bonanza there’s a whole loada jelly rollin’ and a whole loada holy rollin’. In the jelly rollers corner we’ve got Cotton Thompson, who ain’t giving nobody none of his, Lil Johnson, who sure misses hers, Al Dexter, who’s renewed his, and Lu Watters Yerba Buena Band, and there’s no way that I’m going to tell you what they’ve done with theirs. For the holy rollers we’ve got the Blind Boys of Alabama, backed by the Preservation Hall Jazzband, The Clouds Of Heaven Trombone Shout Band, Doc Watson, and that wonderful old veteran of the Memphis blues scene, Furry Lewis. If you can’t save your jelly roll, these guys will make sure you save your soul. In between, we’ve got some first class old time string band music, courtesy of the Downtrodden String Band, Clyde Davenport and Dwight Diller. There‘s a bunch of US presidential election songs; there’s a cluster of songs about young girls married to old men; there’s a few Scots fiddle tunes; Kevin Mitchell and Sarah Grey give us a song apiece; there’s a hoolie of hootin’ and hollerin’ from Switzerland, Sweden and North Carolina; some ethnic sounds from the Big Apple; some more ethnic sounds from Africa; and Washboard Sam and the Dixie Reelers are here to tell you, those sleeping tablets just do not work. And there’s a small tribute to one of the truly great leaders of the twentieth century, Dr. Martin King, who was brutally assassinated just over forty years ago. The full playlist can be seen at http://profilemyspacecom/indexcfm? fuseaction=userviewprofile&friendID=160651486 and www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=110260&messages=1 . To listen to the programme, go to www.live365com/stations/oneworldmusic , and click on the yellow speaker button If you haven’t listened before you’ll need to follow the onscreen instructions to download the station player Then wait a moment for the ads to clear, press the green PLAY button and the station will be on the air. The programme is 3 hours long and it’s on a 24/7 continuous loop, so you can pick it up at any time and hear the whole show right through. What’s more, the music is great, listening is free and I'm always glad to receive requests. Happy listening, Fred McCormick Fredlive365@aolcom .
