I am definitely a mandolin owner rather than player, as I've only had my mando for 2 weeks.
I'm making some vaguely musical noises on it thanks to it having basically the same tuning as my tenor banjo.
Are there any more mandolin owners/players out there?

I've got one I don't use much, I'm trying to teach my sister to play which is awkward when I only know about 4 chords

I'm toying with the idea of a mandolin but I hate to think of learning another set of chords, I already get slightly confused with the two different banjo tunings I use (G and CC), the Uke and the Guitar.
Might be something to stick on my xmas list this year.

I have one. It's a cheap "Vintage" (I think that's a JHS brand) but I like it and find it has reasonable power in sessions. I'm pretty hopeless at trying to record myself (nerves get to me, I'm only re comfortable in sessions where others can cover my mistakes, etc. up) but I've just found a short mp3 of me trying to play it. mando.mp3

Late to another relevant thread but I am another mando owner and occasional player. it's a great instrument, but for me best used playing with others rather than solo, which is a pity...

It is a bit small, but it was a gift from my wife. She phoned Jimmy up and commissioned it without me knowing, so I am bound to love it, regardless ;D I have one of his Octave Mandolins which is a 540mm scale, shorter than a bouzouki, but still large enough to get the fingers in
