Greeting folkies one and all
In the spirit of openness and sharing and all sorts of other good stuff like that it's time for me to 'fess up
Some of you will already know this, BUT in 7 days (well 6 1/2 now) I'm getting a hearing aid, probably the 1st of 2.
My hearing has been bad since I was a kid, but what childhood started a teenage passion for heavy metal kinda finished.
Nothing to say other than that really, I just wanted to get it off of my chest. I've gone through the 'oh woe is me' stage and I'm now actually looking forward to it, and wondering things like, will I still be able to wear my sun glasses? and am I gonna be really dumb and attach the damn thing to my head, not turn it on and wonder why it ain't working, you get the idea I'm sure
Any other musicians around here with hearing damage, or is it just me, Patrick Costello, Pete Townsend and Ludwig Van Beethoven?
Much love to one and all

Hi Danny, sorry to hear about your affliction. But I know and have known several people who wear/wore them and it seems if you go into this with the correct spirit you will probably love them. Best thing since sliced bread and suchlike. Modern ones are almost unnoticeable (except for the wearer) and I think you will still look cool and be able to wear a hat. ;D Thinking back, there did not seem to be any limit on the volume back in the good old days, even for quite small venues. It was good though wasn't it, feeling the music deep in your stomach! Hope all goes well, Phil

Well it's in and on. The world is suddenly a very loud place. I didn't realise how much I'd been missing. I can hear things I'd forgotten existed. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far

It's been great Phil, the 1st hour was odd, I think I was suffering from information overload, but after that it's been fine.
And I've been told that you can barely see it on me, which is a bonus
