Hi Brian Great to hear you'r sorted. However being a nosey old git, it would be good to know what you ended up with. How about a few photo's, or if you feel brave enough, some audio or video clips of you playing her? Good luck mate. Pete

Hi Pete,
Many thanks for the mail in the end I purchased a new instrument from a supplier down south. I must confess when I received it I was very happy with the action playability and tone but it had been fitted with a cut away neck which I did not want, somehow wires got crossed here, so I had a problem of sending it back or not. I then noticed that the plating on the arm rest was sub standard flaking in places and missing in others also the staining on the bowl was very variable so I decided the instrument had to go back, It was duly put on transport yesterday so watch this space so to speak for the next development. In all still looking if a suitable instrument is out there!!!!!

Brian,
You are already of the best specialist retailer in the south - Andy Perkins. Have you considered a modern pre-owned (cheap but well set up) or a vintage instrument (good vfm and great to play) - he sells both (but they are not listed on the website).
I purchased my favourite and main 'player' there (a Grafton Clipper - I love it) as well as a 1910 Pop (now sold due to lack of play and a need for finances).
I started with a 'Vintage' (brand name, not age) and both these instruments were way superior to that!

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your message you are much closer that you think the instrument that I returned was in-fact a clipper from AB's. I had it fitted with a white lady tone ring but as I said it was supplied with a cut out which I did not want and had one or two other issues the worst of which was a badly plated arm rest. Set up however was first rate. I am minded to simply order another with the neck without a cutout. If I lived closer to Kent I would pay a visit to see what was available but I live almost on the west coast in Wales so it is not an option unless I pay a visit to my niece who lives in Eastbourne which is not too far away. It would be interesting to see what S/H instruments he has n stock and give them a try.
We will have to see what happens in the future, the alternative is to pay a visit to Frailers or Eagle music but both of them are a fare distance. In the mean time what else is out there?
Best wishes
Brian
