Just another tip ..
Last week i managed to break my "frailing nail". Desperate for practice I went to my local music store and purchased a plastic finger pick (like the type blugrassers use but not metal!). When I got home I cut off about 50% off the end of the pick, filed (with my wife's nail file) it smooth and thinned it out a little (about nail shape / thickness), I then dunked it for about 5 seconds in a hot cup of coffee (hey, I guess you could try water?), placed it (backwards) on my finger and shaped it to fit. It just protudes past the end of my finger about 1 to 1.5mm which is perfect for me and I was REALLY surprised by the results. Although my nail is growing back quick I am perserving with the pick just in case I break a nail again in the future. The pick compared to the nail is LOUD!
When no in use the pick just clips to the co-ordinator rod, just in case!

Hi Mark, Just swinging lead at work so reading the threads; I challenge you to overcome my disability! I am missing about 15mm from my small finger on the left hand! Yes I stuck it somewhere it wasn't meant to go. Its a stretch getting to the top B on my tenor!!

Crikey, that must make things a bit difficult for you. It's hard enough learning an instrument at the best of times.
