Hi, Just wondered if there is anyone on here from the Nottingham area that's into old time US folk/country blues/ragtime/mountain music/early jazz, jug bands etc and the like, I'm 26, been teaching myself guitar, banjo, fiddle... just want to try stuff out with other people, for the fun of playing. i really have no idea how i'm going to do at playing with other people, but no better way that jumping in feet first. If anyone out there is interested, on any kind of skill level, give me a shout. Craig.

Hi Craig Out of my area I'm afraid, but good luck with your search. If you ever head down to Kent - give us a shout. Don't remain a guest, loads of room here for members! Best wishes Pete

Craig, have you looked for any pub sessions? I don't know Nottingham too well so don't know where the most suitable would be, but it might be worth going to the open mic nights at The Running Horse, or the Guitar Bar at Hotel Deux. Even if you don't want to get up in an open mic setting it might be a good way of meeting like-minded musicians who fancy a bit of a session.
Cheers,
Pete.

Hey guys,
I've always been a little wary of pub jam nights or open mic nights, just not sure its for me. i've played tons of gigs with bands of other styles. so its not really a nerves issue.
i just want to try things out and work through things with other people in an environment where i don't feel i'm going to be judged or put on show. if that makes sense. more of a no pressure thing for personal improvement.
I live in the West Bridgford area of nottingham.
Craig.

Hope you guys can get something going. Shame you're not in Kent or south London, we really do need a bit of input from people in this area. There must be lots of us, lets communicate!-- something good may happen!

Hi Craig and Andy
I found this while trawling for some form of Jam in Nottingham. I've been playing Banjo for a couple of months and would like to play with someone informally. Just so I don't get bored / see if I'm doing things right.
Would be interested in meeting also.
Cheers Joe bettyjeanqueen@o2.co.uk

Hi Craig, Andy and Joe
Someone in my village (East Leake) has just started a folk club type group in a pub called The Bulls Head, it was held in the lounge. I went on Tuesday and there was about a dozen people there, most had guitars and I took my banjo and ukulele and it was a pretty good night saying it was the first time we had met. They intend to meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month if your interested. Hope to see you sometime. Cheers Eddy
