I think frailing is a much more natural motion and sounds just as good. From a beginners point of view it seems a much better option in my eyes.
I do like the sound of bluegrass banjo and I like to think I will learn to play 3 finger one day!

I agree about frailing being more natural, especially if you have guitar experience as it's just the Carter Scratch upside down.
And you're right Tom, bluegrass banjo sounds great, that's what attracted me to the instrument in the 1st place, the rest came later.

Yeh Danny, I think having played the guitar has given me a bit of a kick start with frailing banjo. I have tried a few rolls and such, im just rubbish at it in comparison

when i first started playing guitar properly, after a few years of bass, i played almost in the banjo roll fashion, so maybe that's why i took to 3-finger style more

Probably is Kev, I started strumming the guitar, which is probably why I frail much easier.
