I've only been playing banjo for a couple of months and the thought of starting to jam with people kind of scares me a little bit. I'm guessing like every beginner, I feel like I'm not ready but all advice seems to recommend starting to play with other musicians from pretty early on.
I'm interested in hearing your stories about your first jam - how long you had been playing, if you were anxious/intimidated about it, how it went and what you got out of it etc.
Anyone want to share? ;D
(Edit) : I don't mean to just restrict this to the UK folk, just wasn't sure which forum would be the best to post in

Hi Nat Nervous eh? Well i would say don't be, but i don't suppose it's that easy eh . I started jamming with Duggy K on this forum who i met at work and are now good friends. ;D Playing with others kind of forces you to expand beyond your own perceived limitations and exposes you to new ideas. You can give and receive some great (and bad) ideas and try them out - all good stuff. Personally i struggle with my rhythm as a result of years playing alone - getting better tho. I did write a long list of experiences here but decided it's like making friends at school, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, some times for a short period, and sometimes for years. good luck Roj
