Suggest you form a Free Reed section to place Harmonicas, Concertinas and Melodeons. Don't foget Melodeons. Or would you rather call it a Diatonic Accordion? And why do not any of these forums like the word Melodeon? Chas www.myspace.com/clarkchas

Love playing melodeon. I'm lucky enough to have two: a Castagnari Matti 3 row (C#/D/G) and a Saltarelle Irish Bouebe (B/C). Have been playing now for almost 18 months and consider the melodeon now to be my main 'folk' instrument.
The weird thing is that I play at lot of Irish music on the Castagnari and play mainly English stuff on the Irish Bouebe. Must have been born awkward!!
Does anyone here play a Castagnari Benny? I'm hankering after one of these but have very little hope of getting one. Perhaps when we win the lottery ...

I like to call them melodeons and I know what I mean but, for non-UK people I realise it can be confusing. It just doesn't seem right to me to call it a diatonic accordion although that it probably the correct thing to say.
