banjo music styles

hi guys i was watching pats vid blue , he says you can play bluegrass and blues on open back banjo ,
what other styles can you play can you play rockabilly and rocknroll ,
if you have banjo with resonater is it better to take it off and take arm rest off , so it will be open back for frailing ,

I always used to play with the resonator and arm rest on, but when I started to follow Patricks lessons I took them both off. I prefer the sound now, its not quite as harsh and as for the arm rest its like shin pads at football, it makes you soft- get some real scars!

I took resonator off mine but left on the arm rest ,mucked about with the setup, stuffed various cloths etc in to mute sound and sounds OK but I would rather have an openback
