Hi I am just starting this thread to announce the regular Newcastle jam being held in York on Monday the 6th of October at the York Brewery members pub. what time we start is still to be decided but we have till 11pm. The beer is all brewed on the premises, which I think is nice. If anyone needs help or info send me a message.

Hi Payson Ron and me are definately up for the trip down, I talked to Mark and he's up for it too. If its within walking distance from the station we may get the train. ANYBODY else out there??as York is pretty central so get yourselves along. Can you put up the address for the pub Payson

Here is a link to the York Brewery website which gives directions from the rail station. It is less then a 10 minute walk to the brewery at 12 Toft Green which has a pub upstairs. www.yorkbrew.demon.co.uk/map.htmlP.S. These directions are the opposite way along the walls then I described to you Colin but seem to be 6 of one a half dozen of another.

Hi Payson our train tickets are booked, Ron, Les and myself will get to York at 19:11 our train back is at 23:22. Anybody else out there coming? don't be shy, its all just a load of fun and getting to know each other, and hopefully pick up a few tips about the banjo on the way.

I'm planning to come up to the York Jam. Any particular songs I should be looking at before then? Looks like it will be a good laugh and the beer will be good even if I can't play anything.

Hey Father Keith, Come on down. If we are anything it is friendly. We are all beginners (mostly) and pride ourselves on the good atmosphere and accomodating spirit. We have been playing: Boil them cabbage down, Shady Grove, Deep Blue Sea, Waterbound, Durham Prison Blues, Blackberry Rag, and Cripple Creek. Check out the posts on Ho hay the Lads Newcastle thread for some chords etc. We have some chord lyric sheets made up as well. Any new songs welcome as well.

Hey Setzerjett, Come along anyway, banjo or no. You can try ours and see which you like and what is different about them. The Brewery pub is for members but you are my guests and is free. It is only open till 11 though and Colin and some of the guys from Newcastle are on a train back around then anyway. -P
