We love Lyme, and Abbotsbury especially, we've been going there for quite a few years now. Weather cant be worse than last year, that was when we were flooded out here in Gloucestershire! Andrew

Andrew - Reckon the weather has been kind to you this weekend at Lyme! Did you get to see the Red Arrows?! If you went to Abbotsbury you really would have been only a couple of miles from my home - and my husband was born in a house a few doors along from what used to be Abbotsbury School. Small world, eh?!

Small world, eh?! Cor...! Hi Sooze, Yeah we LOVE Abbotsbury. We had a close friend who sadly died recently and we went to St. Catherines chapel to place a candle there for her. Our first day there was the hottest day of the year so far. Unfortunately it rained for a few days after. This year the red arrows were cancelled due to lack of MOD funding. As you may know there had always been an unspoken agreement between the lifeboat people and the airforce that they would flyby free of charge, but this had to change. They wanted 9000 quid. (I worked out that the fuel alone for 9 jets for best part of an hour would be five grand or so) but dorset council, like the man from delmonte, said no. We envy you deeply for living in such a beautiful place, and we will keep returning there as often as we can!! I am determined to take my banjo there next year and play next to the chapel! take care, Andrew

Hi Andrew, thanks for posting the photos - the chapel scene is one I know well!
Hey, that's a neat idea to take your banjo and play up at St Catherines one day - you'd have to take a camcorder too, of course, so you could post a vid of the event! I thought that was a beautiful idea to light a candle there, for Jan. I really like the photo you posted - a very atmospheric shot.
Sorry you didn't get to see the Red Arrows. That's a mind-blowing amount of money though, isn't it?! Phew! I don't suppose many people really consider how much it costs to put on a display.
Anyway, glad to hear you had a smashing time down here on the South Coast....it is a beautiful place to be, but then I am slightly biased!

They're beauiful shots, I'd love to live closer to the south coast, I adore the area around hastings
