Sounds good to me. It's in. One of those songs you can sing along to after listening for just a minute. Plus I can do GC an D! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Any more suggestions welcome. Mark.

It'll be good to see you there - even if you only have 4 strings on your banjo I'd like to suggest another song. A good mate of mine does a version of Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues (see this link www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Ts4M3irWM ) called 'Durham Prison Blues'. It's easy and good fun: Durham Prison Blues Key: G Verse 1 G I hear the train a comin' It's rolling round the bend And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when, C G I'm stuck in Durham prison, and time keeps draggin' on D7 G But that train keeps a rollin' on down to Darlington Verse 2 When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son, Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns. But I shot a man in Lesbury just to watch him die When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry.. Verse 3 I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car They're probably chompin’ stottie cakes and smoking big cigars. Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free But those people keep a movin' And that's what tortures me... Verse 3 Well if they freed me from this prison, If that railroad train was mine I bet I'd move it on a little farther down the line Far from Durham prison, that's where I want to stay And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away We still could do with at least one more song to have a go at if anyone has any suggestions.

Blackberry Rag? I've picked the tune up of a lad at Cambois. Bar By BAR tHE CHORDS follow
C C F F G7 G7 C for the first stanza like
A7 A7 D7 D7 G G C to finish.
As for folsom blues! I mentioned to a local guitarist I was larning it 6 month ago;he went and learned it too and now proceeds to clear the bar by killing it deed! Put me off for life!

There will only be Ron and myself coming on tghe night as Ernie and Les have decided they will go to Turkey to gety some sun. Been practicing waterbound (absolutely great song), Does anybody know "Deep Blue Sea" dead easy and a great song, I'll fetch the lyrics and chords. looking forward to seeing you allon Monday Colin

Hey Guys,
I'm looking forward to Monday. I haven't figured out how I'm travelling up yet as I've bought a car but I'll let you know about the ride from the station Mark.
The song ideas seem good to me and I'm glad you liked my suggestion of Waterbound. I learned it at a fiddle tune jam session here in York.
A old friend of mine who just moved up to Newcastle and bought himself a banjo will be coming along as well.

I've organised for us to have the back room in the York Brewery pub on Toft Green not far from the station. Is 7pm too early? I think I should start another thread as well to maybe catch new people's attention.

Had a cracking night jamming at the Black Bull!
Cheers to Big Col and Big Mark, Thanks for the lend of a Banjo Colin and the guidance. (I'm an absolute beginner)
Cant wait for the next one.
In the meantime I intend on finding a suitable banjo to learn on and some serious sweet talking of her indoors so I'm allowed to buy it.
