Would there be any interest in running a UK based weekend/long weekend retreat on the lines of the one that has just finished in Crisfield? If there is enough interest I may be able to set one up. It would be bunkhouse accommodation and self catering therefore very cheap.
This is in no way meant to undermine the Crisfield event but to provide something for folk who can't make the journey.
Let me know
Dick

Hi Dick I'd be happy to help organise such a W/E Rogf Thanks for the offer. We need quite a few more replies before it would be feasible.

Thanks for offer to help organise a weekend. Unfortunately it would need about a dozen folk to commit themselves before it would be worth getting off the ground.

Hello all, I am a newcomer to UK Folkies and pretty new to frailing too. Although I might not be able to add much to the pot musically at this stage I think that the idea of a uk Musician's Weekend sounds very interesting. Would beginners be welcome?
Patrick Costello in a reply to a question from me replied that the best thing that anyone can do is meet up with other frailers and jam. The big question is how to find out where all you other frailers are! I live in Romsey, Hampshire. Is anyone else frailing in this area?

I am in Wednesbury, near Walsall, in the Black County (near Brum too). I'd be interested in a retreat, I was pretty jealous of all those photos of people wistfully gazing across the water at Crisfield.

Maybe an advert placed on the Eagle music website and Andys banjos could help with increased interest? I'm sure the management might see the benefit of publicising their gear there too? Another major attraction might be to ask Patrick to attend if the date would suit him? Maybe even DOD would venture accross too! Maybe also a short You tube video as a call to arms banjos! Andrew

Its a bit chicken and egg. To place an advert you need the details and I'm only prepared to go ahead if there is the interest. Leave it a while and see if anyone else throws their hat in the ring and we'll organise it for the Autumn.
Having Patrick or/and DoD would be great but not essential. As they would readily confirm, Crisfield was less about them and more about the whole group of people and how they interacted. Patrick has said several times that he wants to teach people to the level that he is no longer required. However, I do like the idea.

I'm going to phone Dick today to talk about possible venues and dates. There is a fair bit of registered interest already:
Dick - Scotland Danny - North Kent fingers n thumbs (Roger) - Luton frkeith (Keith) - Sheffield Wolfgang - Kiel, Germany Clangabell (Colin) - Newcastle craftsman (Andrew) - Gloucestershire foxtrotyankee - Wednesbury Bill1 - Romsey, Hampshire
Can I suggest anyone else who is interested cut and paste this list into a new reply and add their name to it? - it will give us a starting point to work from.
