Hello - I was wondering whether any wiser head than mine could offer this novice a little advise, I have searched the internet rather than just lean on others but unfortunately no luck looking for what I need I am a banjo novice and have noticed that the 5th string locator (I am sure it has a proper name but I can't find it) has broken - this is a small white resin type thing through which the 5th string passes just prior to be wound on the peg and ensures the 5th string stays in position - can this be repaired easily or would i need to send it away for repair
I can still use the banjo and as a novice it doesn't cause me any real problems as i have just placed the string around what is left of this locator and carried on but I would be grateful for any advise as to why it would have broken and how it could be repaired
Many thanks Steve
