Hello all you banjo experts out there! Just wondered if any of you know anything about, or own this model, and what your thoughts are on it. Should I buy one to replace (or use alongside) my entry level Ozark 2109G? HELP!!?!! Sooze.

I've had a look on andy's website, and it seems like it should be a good banjo. As far as I'm aware gold tones are all pretty good.
Having said that I've had a look at your banjo, and I'd save a few quid by raising the tailpiece right up as high as it would go. IF that doesn't do it, slacken all of the screws that hold your head on by 1/4 or 1/8 of a turn (NO more than that tho) If that doesn't do it then you can start spending more money.

Thanks for that advice, Danny - I'm going to try it now! Having said that, the screws must have been pretty 'loose' when I got the banjo, although I hadn't noticed at the time as I didn't really explore it as such, but last evening I noticed that one had fallen off and is lost, so I tightened the others last night (they were very slack) so I've probably made it sound 'brighter'? - I think! So I will loosen them again and see how it sounds after I have raised the tailpiece too. I must say, you don't get all these problems with a guitar, do you?!!!

Generally I like my banjo head as tight as possible. Try the tailpiece 1st.

I own a CB100 and am delighted with it. The one I have has the frailing scoop and the tone is beautifully plunky.

I recommend you stay with what you have for the time being. make adjustments, play around with it. You will know when you are ready to move on and you will know what sound / tone / feel you want from your next instrument.

Dick's reply made me want to rush out and get the CB100D! Then Mark's response made me stop and think that maybe I could save my money for the time being! Thank you both for your input - will hang fire for a bit and experiment with different settings and if I can't get the sound I want, then I'll go for the CB100D. Andybanjo also recommended the Gold Tone WL150 if I wanted a more expensive model - bit too much for me as a beginner, methinks!
