At the freshly born google group "Tangier" Tony posted something about taxes etc. for imports to the UK. With his permission I forward the following (don´t know anything about it myself):

Well for anyone interested it is as follows. Take price + handling and shipping and add together. Import tax is 3.2% of this total. You then add all three and pay 17.5% on this total and this is VAT. Parcelforce then collect the item and deliver it to your local depot for £14.50. You then have to arrange to pay Parcelforce the total amount owing at which point they will release the item(s)."
