Hi Shaun, glad to see another clawhammerer on here! I'm nowhere near Kent, sadly, but hopefully someone more local to you can chip in here!

Hi Colin, You should also check out Aubrey Atwater she does a pretty good job of explaining how to play various tunes, such as .. Old Joe Clark, Cripple Creek, Buffalo girl etc, What you must not do is to consider giving up, keep at it. I have been learning clawhammer for a year now, and I can play some tunes, sort of ok. I've not played c/h in public yet. In public I play old time two finger picking, but it's nearly time to unleash a bit of c/h. You could try looking for various folk clubs and sessions, you stand a good chance meeting other banjo players that way. Best of luck,
Rob

Hi Shaun
I'm Danny the weirdo who started this site, welcome aboard ;D
Me and my dad Pete, or Ned if you look up his user name are in Beckenham, it's the other side of Kent and I don't drive, but you're very welcome mate. I'm not much of a frailer, more of a guitar guy, but I'm sure I can help a bit, even if I don't it should be fun right?
Also if I may say it's nice to see another disabled musician (I have clinical depression and wear a hearing aid, too much Rock & Metal when I was a teenager I fear)
I've subscribed to your youtube channel (mine is user name madgeniusmusic not that their's much on it, mainly my kitten making funny noises)
Anyway, welcome aboard
Danny

Hey Shaun. I see you have got loads of good advice on Tangier Sound. Danny and I have met several of those guys, and they are fine players. So the advice is sound! Yannis makes a superb Raki, from his own grapes, well worth sampling if you can get him to visit next time he is in England. Keep on frailing mate, and I will try to catch up, I seem to be lagging behind. Please let us know how you get on. Cheers. Pete

For anyone new to frailing/clawhammer, a good place to start is by looking at The Old Time Banjo Project dailyfrail.com/2011/03/22/the-old-time-banjo-project/ which Patrick Costello has initiated. It's a work in progress but it will quickly build up into a comprehensive resource if enough people collaborate on it. I've just uploaded a lesson on pull-off's which hasn't appeared yet so I'll post it here:
