Hello, hola and well met to you all! I've been pondering on posting here for a while so here goes. I'm Matt, and currently reside oop north. I've been a fond student of Pat and Patrick via Tangiersound since, oooh, i'd say last year sometime. Only this year have i got into playing as i recieved a fine acoustic guitar for my b'day. Have been a-picking ever since. Currently eyeing up a banjo, and waiting until i'm richer. Man, the life of a hobo. Well, good to know y'all. Cheers, Hosea

Wow, 2 newbies in 1 day, we are rocking and rolling ;D
Welcome aboard Kev.
You might be able to help me actually, can you recomend a good Uke on a very limited budget? I detest friction tuners, and the low enders all seem to come with 'em is the problem I've had so far.
Welcome to the Forum mate

As little as humanly possible, ideally less than £50

the one i started off with is a 'lazy' ukulele, that's the only logo or wording on it, it was about £15 and it has machined tuners rather than pegs after a while i moved on to a lanikai lu-21p. which cost around £60, it's a pineapple uke so it has a warmer bassier sound and again it has machined tuners, this is a vid of me playing it www.youtube.com/watch?v=u13HEkrywGg

I can't watch the vid atm, but I will tomorrow. Any idea of a online retailer that sells 'em?

I've had cheap ukes before, the tuners always slipped. I've heard it's just a case of tightening the screws, makes sense but I only heard that after sending my last uke back. Have you tried that at all? does it work?

that does work yeah, i've done that on my friends uke a couple of times, but mine uses machined tuners like a guitar, rather than pegs

I might get one off of the catalog then, try it and send it back if it doesn't work

Hi there Danny and Craftsman, thank's for the warm welcome. My guitar's a Freshman, 6-string acoustic. It's a fine wee beast and it certainly gets the job done. Before now i was practicing on a fender electric minus amp, it's taken me a while to get used to the transition from the electrico to the acoustic. I reckon i'm just about getting used to the strings and frets. How's about yourself Danny, what's your weapon of choice? Cheers, Hosea
