I have to be truthful and say, that is not one of my favourite instruments, but the guy certainly plays well, and I enjoyed the tune!
I've been watching the video of the guy (Kevin? - I've forgotten his name already!) on Tangiersound, who has been learning frailing for only 8 days - it'll be 8 MONTHS before I can do it that well!

I love the sound of these guys...infectious, inspiring... Makes you want to lift your skirts and stamp... (OK maybe not the skirt bit!) www.nonesuch.com/Hi_Band/gipsykings/'Aven Aven' is my favorite. (If your popup blocker is on, click on the line that it tells you to to hear it.)

Good stuff, Andrew! I did prefer the third one, I think it was, with no singing. I like to hear the music, uninterrupted! :-)

Hi Andrew! I have seen groundhogpeggy's videos before - she is a great player and she really looks like she enjoys it. (She doesn't hold her banjo the way Patrick tells us to, though!!!) I noticed her dog ran off when she started playing, just like my cats do! Are they trying to tell us something?! :-) Have you watched her other videos? There are some of her having lessons with Dwight Diller.....

Two very contrasting choices there indeed!
Mississippi - used to love that one when I was oh soooooo much younger, and I have to admit I do still remember quite a lot of the words.................. :-) ......and yes, I did sing along just now......! (Today's youngsters just don't know what they missed, do they???!!!!!!!)
But the other clip was great too - used to love a bit of heavy rock - still enjoy most music apart from jazz and the stuff they do in musicals, and some of the 'really classical', classical music, if you get my drift. Only yesterday I was with a friend re-living the tunes we enjoyed in our teen years - she has loads of old LPs and little 45s - so many memories............. "sigh!".
